Stigma in Healthcare Award
This award is given to individuals,
organizations, and companies who strive to defeat stigma in healthcare.
Recipient: Society for Urologic Nurses and Associates (SUNA)
SUNA is a national, non-profit membership association with over 2,800
members. The Award recognizes outstanding contributions to
removing the stigma that surrounds a wide variety of health conditions.
The award was presented to the President of SUNA, Marie Page, RN, CURN.
2003 John J.
Humpal Award for Outstanding Dedication to Finding Incontinence
Solutions
This award honors Dr. John J. Humpal, the
first Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Simon Foundation.
Before his untimely death, Dr. Humpal, a University of Chicago Business
School professor, gave countless hours to leading the Foundation's
Governing Board.
Recipient: Neil Resnick, M.D.
Dr. Resnick is a world renowned geriatrician who founded the first
continence clinic in American and whose research has added tremendous
understanding about how the bladder works and what causes its
malfunction. In accepting the award at the 2003 Simon Foundation
black tie Gala, Dr Resnick stated: "I have received many awards
over the years, but none so important to me as this one from a patient
advocacy group representing the people I serve."
2003 Mimi Van
Slyke Award for Excellence in Incontinence Not-For-Profit Management
This award is dedicated to the memory of Mimi
Van Slyke who, prior to her death, served the cause of continence
promotion for fifteen years as the Foundation's Director of Support
Services.
Recipient: Frau Chirst Thiel
Frau Thiel has headed Gessellschaft fur Inkontinenzhilfe in Germany for
fifteen years and has initiated many conferences and successful programs
on behalf of people with incontinence. |
